Michael Reaves and Steve Perry's 1987 science fiction novel is set in the closing years of the twenty-first century aboard Mea Lana, a mobile underwater city known as the Dome, whose research chief Douglas Copeland may end up leading the last pocket of humanity. Bulova Accutron

When the city lurches at the end of a fractious steering committee meeting, the medical chief Brecher reads 0800 off his watch and Copeland checks his own: an antique early Accutron with hands instead of a readout, run by a battery and a tuning fork. It shows eight on the nose; Mea Lana has begun its shakedown voyage from Hawaii to Tahiti on schedule. The text says "an early Accutron" and describes the tuning-fork movement, which fits the 1960s Accutrons; it names no model.
