From IMWDb
Habitat

Skye Kathleen Moody's Venus Diamond mystery was published by St. Martin's Minotaur in 1999. On a year's leave from the Fish and Wildlife Service, Venus is called back by her boss, Oly Olson, to investigate the murder of Dr. Hannah Strindberg, lead scientist at Breedhaven, a research center on Helix Island in northern Puget Sound that freezes the embryos of endangered animals. (Open Library)

Watches

Swatch watch
Venus reads her Swatch at noon outside a consul's office (p. 140), at two in the morning (p. 194), and at four on a stakeout of a hotel, just before she is struck from behind (p. 196). Held on the barge Nirvana with Rosemary, she sees the boat Sally draw alongside, unstraps the Swatch and tosses it into the water toward the stern, and while the guard goes to see what flashed in the moonlight she slips over the side and swims to the Sally (p. 240). She reads a Swatch in Blue Poppy too. The maker is named; the model is not.

Source text: Venus unstrapped her Swatch, tossed it into the water toward the Nirvana's stern. The guard went over to see what flashed in the moonlight. (Skye Kathleen Moody, Habitat, scan cataloged as St. Martin's Minotaur, 1999, p. 240; Internet Archive scan OCR)
