Harry Potter is a series of seven fantasy novels by British author J.K. Rowling, beginning with Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone in 1997, following the young wizard Harry Potter and his friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger as students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Warner Bros. adapted the novels into an eight-film series (2001-2011) and has since continued the property across further films, stage plays, and television, all licensed under Warner Bros.'
