Spytime (2000)

From IMWDb
Spytime

William F. Buckley Jr.'s novel, subtitled The Undoing of James Jesus Angleton, was published by Harcourt in 2000. The jacket calls it a fictional account of the life of the CIA's chief of counterintelligence, from his work behind the lines in the Second World War to the waning days of the Cold War, and of his hunt for a turncoat he was convinced sat at the highest levels of government. Omega (unidentified model)
Angleton, by then Chief of Counterintelligence, still goes to Yale once a year to interview prospective agents, partly to see Norman Holmes Pearson, his old boss in London. Pearson, leaning on his cane, waits on the railroad platform one April afternoon, and Angleton looks down at his large Omega wristwatch and remarks that the train is eight minutes late. It is the only time the novel names the watch. The maker is named; the model is not.
