Patricia Cornwell's fifth Kay Scarpetta novel takes the Virginia medical examiner to the FBI Academy at Quantico, where her twenty-one-year-old niece Lucy is interning at the Engineering Research Facility, and on to the murder of a girl in North Carolina.
