Thinking of You (2007)

Jill Mansell's 2007 novel follows Ginny, whose daughter Jem has left for university, as she takes in a lodger and stumbles toward a new life in Cornwall. The lodger is Laurel, the pale, mournful sister of the charming Perry, still fixed on Kevin, the man who left her. (Open Library)

Gucci (unidentified model): Laurel had convinced herself that Kevin would come back on his birthday. A week after it, in the middle of a row about unpaid rent, Ginny makes her open a small parcel and sees a Gucci watch: Laurel bought it for Kevin, and he has returned it with a note. Ginny suggests a refund to cover the rent, and later finds the boxed watch in Laurel's bottom drawer with framed photographs of Kevin and his old sweater. Nobody in the novel wears it. The maker is named; the model is not.
