Watches
- Timex (unidentified model)
- Riding beside Benjamin Foxworth, who reads half after five on his gold pocket watch, Meredith digs her reliable no-frills Timex out of her bag and fastens it on her left wrist (p. 41). He has never seen a wristwatch; his accent turns Timex into Tom Mix, and he asks whether the third hand marks the seconds and where such a wonder is made (p. 42). Her bag empties itself of the future piece by piece (p. 67). Much later he brings the Timex from his trunk, its face and workings vanished, and she holds it like a talisman (p. 195). The maker is named; the model is not.
Source text: “Timex?” His cultured near-British accent made it sound like “Tom Mix.” (Thomasina Ring, Time-Spun Treasure, scan cataloged as Leisure Books, 1992 (a BMI edition, copyright 1992), p. 42; Internet Archive scan OCR)
