Trust Fund Boys (2004)

Rob Byrnes's 2004 comedy is narrated by an out-of-work New York actor of thirty-nine who calls himself Brett Revere and passes for a trust fund heir among wealthy gay Manhattan and the Hamptons. His mentor in the art of being kept, Michael DeVries, equips him for the role. (Open Library)

Cartier (unidentified model): Michael DeVries, whose Cartier, Bulgari and David Yurman watches each came from a different elderly admirer, hands Brett a Cartier and orders him never to show his Seiko again. Jamie warns that it is probably a knock-off, since Michael would never think he had too many Cartiers, and Brett wears it for the rest of the book unsure whether it is real, until he sees that it matches the authentic one on Michael's wrist. He finally passes it to Nicholas Golodnya as an apology from Jamie. The text never names a model.

Source text: I did not intend to tell him that, after I saw our images reflected together in the mirror, I had remembered that my Cartier watch looked exactly the same as his Cartier watch, and now Nicholas Golodnya was wearing a gift from Brett Revere via Michael DeVries via some old woman or another.
