Jeffrey N. McMahan's novel continues the adventures of Andrew Lyall, the gay vampire of two stories in his collection Somewhere in the Night. Steven Verruckt, recently released from the state asylum, or escaped from it, and his reluctant companion Eddie Cramer chase the Le Baron convertible of the Sleepy Hollow Killer through Village traffic, convinced that Andrew is at the wheel. Casio (unidentified model): Steven hauls Eddie out of bed with the news that Andrew Lyall is not the only vampire about: he has smoked out another at a ramshackle steak-and-lobster roadhouse at the darkest edge of town, its lot full of Harleys, and watched him come three nights running. At their usual booth near the bar, having palmed the maitre d' Jacques a folded bill, Steven consults his Casio watch, assures Eddie that their quarry will be there soon and orders two scotches, lobster for himself and chicken for Eddie. The maker is named; the model is not.
