Isabel Sharpe's novel, an Avon Books first edition of 2007, is set in Kettle, Wisconsin. Lorelei Taylor, found not guilty in New York after what the novel's opening news report calls the most sensational trial since O. J. Simpson's, turns out to be Vivian Harcourt, granddaughter of a Kettle family, and her arrival unsettles the women who run the town's Social Club, Sarah Gilchrist first among them. (Open Library)
Watches
- Seiko (unidentified model)
- Sarah Gilchrist, reading a magazine in bed, can follow her husband Ben's undressing without looking after nearly eighteen years of marriage: slippers, socks thrown into the hamper, trousers draped on the chair by her dresser, then the Seiko, which clatters onto his nightstand, then the sweater. She reminds herself that the clothes on her chair do not matter. The maker is named; the model is not.
Source text: Seiko watch off first, clattering onto his nightstand, then sweater, pulled up from the back over his head, then loosened off each arm.
