Epos is a Swiss maker of mechanical watches founded as Montres Epos SA in 1983 by Peter Hofer and his wife Erna, when quartz had driven most makers out of mechanical watches. It traces its roots to the company James Aubert founded in the Vallée de Joux in 1925; his son-in-law Jean Fillon developed Epos's jumping-hour and regulator complications. The Chonge-Forster family took over in 2002. (Epos)
