Favre-Leuba traces to Abraham Favre's 1737 workshop in Le Locle, making it one of the oldest continuously used Swiss watch names, and took its current form in 1815 when Henry-Auguste Favre joined the Val-de-Travers firm of Auguste Leuba. The maison pioneered instrument watches for extreme conditions: the 1962 Bivouac added a mechanical altimeter and barometer for mountaineers, and the 1968 Bathy measured dive depth directly on the wrist.
