Frederique Constant was founded in Geneva in 1988 by Peter Stas and Aletta Stas-Bax, who named the marque for their respective great-great-grandfathers. It built a reputation for accessibly priced Swiss watchmaking, then joined the small circle of true in-house "manufactures" in 2004, developing calibers such as the 2001-patented Heart Beat construction, which exposes the balance-wheel bridge on the dial side. Citizen Watch Co. acquired a majority stake in 2016. (Wikipedia)
