Kienzle traces to a Schwenningen clockworks Johannes Schlenker founded in 1822, in the Black Forest region that became Germany's watchmaking center; Jakob Kienzle married into the firm in 1883, and the renamed Kienzle Uhrenfabrik pioneered mass-produced, interchangeable clock and watch components, employing more than 3,500 workers by 1939. (Wikipedia) Long Germany's largest clockmaker, the firm survived a 1997 foreign takeover and returned to independent German ownership in 2002.
