Mossimo began in 1987 as Mossimo Giannulli's Southern California surf-and-streetwear label, its scrawled signature logo a fixture of early-1990s beachwear. After overexpansion and financial trouble, the brand signed a licensing deal with Target in 2000 and spent nearly two decades as the retailer's budget fashion house label (watches included) before Target retired it in 2017.
