PRIM is the Czech watch marque built at Nové Město nad Metují, where a Chronotechna branch began developing a domestic wristwatch in 1949 and reached serial production in 1957, one of few plants anywhere able to make a complete watch in-house. Output reached 300,000 a year by 1989, then fell to a fraction once open borders let in cheap imports. (PRIM, Radio Prague International)
