Shanghai (上海牌) was the flagship trademark of the Shanghai Watch Factory, whose 1974 "Chinese Standard Movement" program standardized a single 19-jewel mechanical caliber for production across multiple state factories nationwide. It became one of the most common watches in China through the 1970s and 1980s, a fixture of working-class life before the factory system consolidated and shrank as China's watch industry restructured.
