Stocker & Yale logo

Stocker & Yale built issue field watches for the United States armed forces, sold under the SandY name against the MIL-W-46374 specification. A 1988 radiation check at a Pennsylvania army depot traced elevated readings to the tritium markings on its SandY 184 series, some measuring far above the permitted dose; the replacement 490 was developed in answer and reached troops for the Gulf War.
