Vertex was founded in London in 1912 by Claude Lyons and became the only British name among the twelve makers of the Second World War "W.W.W." field watch, supplying about 4,000 of them for the D-Day landings; its great-grandson of the founder, Don Cochrane, revived the company in 2016 around that military design, and its MP45 monopusher descends from the 1945 bomb-disposal chronograph. Charlie Higson's 2026 Bond novel King Zero puts a wartime Vertex on 007's wrist. (British GQ; Vertex Watches)
