Black Adam (Teth-Adam) is an antihero created by writer Otto Binder and artist C. C. Beck, first appearing in The Marvel Family #1, cover-dated December 1945. An ancient Egyptian champion granted the powers of Shazam by the wizard who later chose Billy Batson instead, he has since recurred as a rival and sometime ally to the Marvel/Shazam Family across comics, and been adapted across films, television series, and games, including Jaume Collet-Serra's Black Adam (2022), starring Dwayne Johnson.
