Deadpool (Wade Wilson) is an antihero created by writer Fabian Nicieza and artist Rob Liefeld for Marvel Comics, first appearing in The New Mutants #98, cover-dated February 1991. A disfigured mercenary with a regenerative healing factor and a fourth-wall-breaking, wisecracking persona, the character has since starred in his own long-running comic book series and been adapted across films, television series, and games, most prominently Ryan Reynolds's Marvel Cinematic Universe portrayal beginning with Deadpool (2016).
