Doctor Strange (Stephen Strange) is a sorcerer created by writer/editor Stan Lee and artist Steve Ditko for Marvel Comics, first appearing in a backup story in Strange Tales #110, cover-dated July 1963. A former neurosurgeon who becomes the Marvel Universe's Sorcerer Supreme after a car accident ends his surgical career, the character has since starred in his own long-running comic book series and been adapted across films, television series, and games, including Benedict Cumberbatch's Marvel Cinematic Universe films beginning with Doctor Strange (2016).
