Dragon Quest: The Adventure of Dai (Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibōken), written by Riku Sanjo and illustrated by Koji Inada, was serialized in Shueisha's Weekly Shōnen Jump from 1989 to 1996, spinning an original story out of Enix's Dragon Quest game world. Dai, a boy raised in isolation on Dermline Island among monsters, learns of his hidden heroic lineage and, guided by the Dragon Crest branded on his chest, sets out with fellow disciples of the vanished hero Avan to stop the Dark Lord Vearn's resurrection. Toei Animation adapted the manga into a television series in 1991-1992, and again into a remake beginning in 2020. (Wikipedia)
