Green Lantern is the shared codename of several superheroes for DC Comics who wield a power ring drawing on the mystical or technological energy of a Green Lantern. The name was created by writer Bill Finger and artist Martin Nodell for Alan Scott, introduced in All-American Comics #16, cover-dated July 1940. The best-known modern bearer, test pilot Hal Jordan, was introduced by writer John Broome and artist Gil Kane in Showcase #22 (1959) as a member of the intergalactic Green Lantern Corps. Also adapted into the film Green Lantern, which this partnership does not name. (Wikipedia)
