Star-Lord (Peter Quill) is a superhero created by writer Steve Englehart and artist Steve Gan, first appearing in Marvel Preview #4 in 1976. A human-Spartoi hybrid and former NASA astronaut who becomes an interstellar adventurer, he later leads the Guardians of the Galaxy across a long-running comic book run, and has since been adapted across films, television series, and games, most widely known from Chris Pratt's Marvel Cinematic Universe films beginning with Guardians of the Galaxy (2014).
