Thanos is a supervillain created by writer/artist Jim Starlin for Marvel Comics, cameo-introduced in The Invincible Iron Man #55, cover-dated February 1974. A member of the alien Titan race obsessed with death and cosmic balance, he has since starred as one of Marvel's most prominent villains across comics, television, and games, most widely known as the central antagonist of the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019), played by Josh Brolin.
