Thor is a superhero based on the Norse god of the same name, created by writer/editor Stan Lee, scripter Larry Lieber, and artist Jack Kirby for Marvel Comics, first appearing in Journey into Mystery #83, cover-dated August 1962. The Asgardian god of thunder wields the enchanted hammer Mjolnir and has since starred in his own long-running comic book series and been adapted across films, television series, and games, including Chris Hemsworth's Marvel Cinematic Universe films beginning with Thor (2011).
