A frustrated writer struggles to keep his family alive when a series of global catastrophes threatens to annihilate mankind. (IMDb) Directed by Roland Emmerich from a script he wrote with Harald Kloser, the Columbia Pictures disaster epic opened on 13 November 2009 and builds its apocalypse out of the 2012 phenomenon, moving from Los Angeles and Yellowstone to Las Vegas and the Himalayas. John Cusack plays novelist and limousine driver Jackson Curtis opposite Amanda Peet as his ex-wife Kate, with Chiwetel Ejiofor as geologist Adrian Helmsley, Oliver Platt as White House chief of staff Carl Anheuser, Thandiwe Newton, Woody Harrelson and Danny Glover as President Thomas Wilson.
