Arnaud Desplechin's ensemble drama gathers the Vuillard family in Roubaix for a Christmas overshadowed by matriarch Junon's (Catherine Deneuve) acute myeloid leukemia diagnosis and the family's scramble to find a compatible bone-marrow donor, reopening the old breach with her exiled son Henri (Mathieu Amalric).
