Andrew Niccol's cyberpunk thriller set in a future without privacy. Every citizen's eyes record and upload everything they see, turning criminal investigation into a matter of reviewing footage, until detective Sal Friedland meets a woman whose visual record has been erased, an impossibility that draws him into a case he cannot solve by watching. Clive Owen stars as Friedland opposite Amanda Seyfried. (IMDb)
Watches
- Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Geographic
- Worn by Clive Owen as Sal Friedland. Montres de Luxe names the watch a Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin, no reference stated, and identifies it as product placement rather than an incidental prop: Owen is a Jaeger-LeCoultre ambassador, and the film gives both the brand name and the watch a close-up near the start, when Friedland's character browses a shop window and virtually tries the watch on. (Montres de Luxe) A Klocksnack member, thewallin, photographed that opening try-on in May 2018: the overlay the film draws beside the watch reads "Master Geograp" before the edge of the photograph cuts it off, under the Jaeger-LeCoultre name, and the dial carries a power-reserve arc and two subsidiary displays. The photograph also shows a second crown at ten o'clock and a city aperture at the foot of the dial. The full frame carries the whole label: "Master Geographic", a stainless steel case, the time in 24 destinations, an automatic movement of 310 parts at 28,800 vibrations per hour with a 43-hour reserve, and "Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 939A", which is the specification of the 39 mm steel Master Geographic; the SKU it shows, AP-LM-132732-93, is not a Jaeger-LeCoultre reference. On the film's own text the watch is a Master Geographic and not the Master Ultra Thin named by Montres de Luxe. (Klocksnack)
