IWC XPL prop watch

Worn by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta. IWC's experimental XPL division built the watches the film's two human antagonists wear underwater, and Manta's glows red. They are props made for the production: IWC gives them no reference, no model name and no retail equivalent, and describes the two limited editions recorded below as inspired by these prototypes rather than as reproductions of them. Neither retail watch is the watch on screen. The image is IWC's campaign key art rather than a frame from the film, and it appears to be the only photograph of the prop in existence: a sweep of 8,467 frames covering the film's full runtime found no shot of it, and Manta's screen costume mounts a rectangular armoured forearm gauntlet in the position the key art gives the watch, which the licensed screen-accurate collectible reproduces as a separate part while packing its watch as a loose accessory. Every scene with Manta out of the suit is framed above the wrist. (IWC)

IWC XPL prop watch

Worn by Randall Park as Dr. Stephen Shin. Shin wears the blue-glowing prop from the same XPL build, seen on his wrist alongside a hand torch in IWC's campaign art. As with Manta's, it is a production prop with no reference and no retail counterpart, and the blue limited edition below borrows its glow colour without reproducing it. (IWC)

Official product partnership, not an in-work appearance. IWC partnered with Warner Bros. Pictures on two limited editions announced in December 2023, taking their luminescence from the prop watches XPL built for the production. This one carries red Super-LumiNova, after the glow of Black Manta's prop. A 49 mm Ceratanium case, among the largest IWC has made, houses the manufacture calibre 89802 with a digital date and month.
