Kim Yong-hoon wrote and directed this South Korean neo-noir black comedy crime thriller (Korean: 지푸라기라도 잡고 싶은 짐승들), his debut feature, adapting Keisuke Sone's 2011 Japanese novel of the same name. Structured in six interlocking chapters, the ensemble film follows several desperate characters whose paths cross around a bag of cash abandoned in a sauna locker: put-upon employee Joong-man (Bae Seong-woo), caring for his ailing mother; customs officer Tae-young (Jung Woo-sung), in debt to a loan shark and plotting a scam against a fleeing "sucker"; and escort Mi-ran (Shin Hyun-been), looking for a way out of an abusive marriage. Jeon Do-yeon and Youn Yuh-jung also star. The film premiered in the Tiger Competition at the 2020 International Film Festival Rotterdam, winning the Special Jury Award, and opened in South Korea on February 19, 2020. (Wikipedia)
