Catch Me If You Can is Steven Spielberg's 2002 comedy-drama from Frank Abagnale Jr.'s book about his teenage years passing as a Pan Am pilot, a doctor and a prosecutor while cashing forged checks. Leonardo DiCaprio plays Frank and Tom Hanks the FBI agent Carl Hanratty who chases him, with Christopher Walken as Frank Abagnale Sr., Nathalie Baye as Paula Abagnale, Amy Adams as Brenda Strong and Martin Sheen as her father. Watches

Unidentified watch
Worn by Leonardo DiCaprio as Frank Abagnale Jr.. Frank's everyday watch from the New Rochelle scenes onward is a plain steel-cased piece with a black dial on a leather strap, worn with his Fair Isle-style Christmas sweater and later under his airline uniform. BAMF Style's Christmas-scene breakdown describes the dial's tan hour markers, more pronounced at each even-numbered hour, and a swollen brown leather strap, and notes that as the cons escalate Frank sometimes swaps in more sophisticated-looking gold watches while still returning to this one. (BAMF Style) The same site's earlier post on his orange knitwear calls the model unconfirmed and passes along, without endorsing it, a retailer's suggestion of a modern Dogfight-brand watch; a reader there argues the 44 mm Dogfight is far too large for what is on screen and that a mid-1960s black-dial watch from a maker such as Tudor or Universal Geneve would fit better. Neither claim rests on a legible signature, so the watch stays unidentified. (BAMF Style)
