Worn by Robin Williams as John Keating. Keating wears a gold-plated rectangular Hamilton on the small-seconds Boulton pattern throughout the film. Sotheby's, which auctioned the actual watch, cataloged it as a gold-plated rectangular quartz (caliber 581001, case 6104) made circa 1988, roughly three decades after the film's 1959 setting, an anachronism forum spotters only noted later. Robin Williams kept the watch after filming, its caseback engraved "Robin Williams Dead Poets Society 1988"; at the 2018 Sotheby's sale of his collection it sold for $32,500 against a $1,000–2,000 estimate.
