Every Trick in the Book (鳩の撃退法) is a 2021 Japanese mystery thriller based on Shogo Sato's Naoki Prize-winning bestseller. Tatsuya Fujiwara stars as Shinichi Tsuda, a once-acclaimed novelist whose new manuscript so unsettles his editor Naomi Torikai (Tao Tsuchiya) that she starts investigating whether the increasingly disturbing events he describes as fiction actually happened, a search that pulls her into the city's underworld and toward an unsettling truth. Etsushi Toyokawa plays Kenjiro Kurata, a fixer who controls much of that underworld and becomes entangled in Tsuda's story.
