Fantasia

Walt Disney Productions' animated musical anthology, produced under Walt Disney and Ben Sharpsteen with story direction by Joe Grant and Dick Huemer, pairing eight segments of animation with classical pieces conducted by Leopold Stokowski. Its best-known segment, The Sorcerer's Apprentice, casts Mickey Mouse as an overwhelmed sorcerer's apprentice whose enchanted broomstick and pail multiply out of control; music critic Deems Taylor introduces each segment in live action. Released November 13, 1940, it debuted Fantasound, a pioneering multi-channel sound system developed with RCA. Citizen has released four Disney-licensed watches themed on the Sorcerer's Apprentice segment: a 2023 Citizen Collection model, a 2025 mechanical pair marking the film's 85th anniversary, and a Disney Store-exclusive design. Disney Store's product page, checked on October 9, 2026, listed this $350 Citizen Eco-Drive watch, created especially for Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort, its two-tone (silver and goldtone) case and black dial illustrated with Mickey Mouse as The Sorcerer's Apprentice in his red robe and star-covered blue wizard hat amid stars and a comet-tail swoosh. Bulova released this $175 quartz pocket watch exclusively through Disney Store, added December 4, 2023, its white dial printed with Mickey Mouse as The Sorcerer's Apprentice; Disney's own product copy states it is "inspired by Mickey's celebrated role as The Sorcerer's Apprentice in Fantasia (1940)." UNDONE, the Hong Kong custom-watch brand, made this official Disney chronograph "inspired by Walt Disney's groundbreaking 1940 masterpiece": Mickey as the Sorcerer's Apprentice on a metallic night-sky dial signed with the Fantasia title, glowing blue in the dark, a second apprentice pose on the blue-tinted case back and a TMI VK64 mecha-quartz flyback chronograph in a 41.8 mm steel case on blue suede straps. UNDONE's earlier storefront listed it from November 2021; its storefront, checked on October 9, 2026, listed it sold out at US$480, exclusive to Hong Kong and Macau. Franck Muller and Disney Store released this 20-piece-per-colorway Tonneau Cabex pair (a blue automatic and a diamond-set white quartz) to mark the December 2021 opening of Disney Flagship Tokyo, both dials built around a star-cutout guilloché pattern with a caseback engraved with a sorcerer's hat and the Fantasia logo.
