Godzilla Minus One (ゴジラ-1.0) is a Japanese kaiju film written, directed and visual-effects supervised by Takashi Yamazaki, released by Toho on November 3, 2023 as the franchise's 37th film and its 70th-anniversary production. In a Japan already at zero after the war, former kamikaze pilot Kōichi Shikishima, played by Ryunosuke Kamiki, confronts the Godzilla that first attacked him on Odo Island, alongside Minami Hamabe, Yuki Yamada, Munetaka Aoki, Hidetaka Yoshioka, Sakura Ando and Kuranosuke Sasaki; the film won the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.
