Havoc in Heaven (1961)

From IMWDb
Havoc in Heaven

Wan Laiming directed this two-part animated feature for the Shanghai Animation Film Studio, adapting the opening chapters of the Ming-dynasty novel Journey to the West. Sun Wukong, the Monkey King, dives to the undersea palace of the Dragon King of the Eastern Sea to demand a weapon worthy of him and comes away with the Compliant Golden-Hoop Rod, then rebels against the Jade Emperor's court in heaven when the gods try to tame him with an empty title. Part One released in China in 1961 and Part Two followed in 1964, with a combined original running time of 114 minutes (92 minutes in a later HD remaster); Wu Yingju composed the score. (Wikipedia)
