King Rat, directed by Bryan Forbes, was released in 1965. When Singapore surrendered to the Japanese in 1942, the Allied POWs, mostly British but including a few Americans, were incarcerated in Changi prison. Among the American prisoners is Cpl. King, a wheeler-dealer who has managed to establish a pretty good life for himself in the camp. (Letterboxd)

Montres de Luxe identifies King's watch only as an Omega, recounting that he trades it for a piece of rat to eat, and noting this was reportedly the first time the Omega name was cited on screen in the brand's history. (Montres de Luxe) The same publisher had earlier named the watch a Rolex Explorer instead, in a shorter 2010 article that gives no scene detail, against the 2012 article's specific trading scene and historical claim.
