LeJour Chronograph
Worn by Dustin Hoffman as Ted Kramer. HODINKEE identifies Kramer's black LeJour chronograph, worn throughout the film. (HODINKEE) BAMF Style reaches the same maker from the film. It describes a 42 mm chronograph coated black from the case to the three-piece link bracelet, with a tachymeter scale, twin registers at three and nine o'clock and a date at six, a layout shared by near-identical Heuer and LeJour chronographs built on the Valjoux 7734, and judges the watch most likely a LeJour; the clearest view comes as Ted attempts Billy's French toast. (BAMF Style) Hodinkee's own wording is "what appears to be a little-known '70s-era PVD coated chronograph from a French brand called LeJour", reached by freeze-framing; it rules out the Porsche Design and Heuer Reference 12 readings while allowing that "the Kramer watch could just as easily be the Wakmann as it is the LeJour", describes a rubber strap that resembles bracelet links, too long for Hoffman's wrist, rather than the link bracelet BAMF Style describes, and times the watch at 00:09:00 in the opening monologue, 00:12:16 as Billy lifts his father's wrist ("The little hand's on the seven, and the big hand's on the nine"), and 00:13:00 in the French-toast scene. (Hodinkee) Revolution, announcing the 2022 Porsche Design Chronograph 1 reissue, asserts the opposite reading, that the Chronograph 1 "was worn by Dustin Hoffman in Kramer vs Kramer", the account Hodinkee rules out above; it offers no frame analysis.
