Serge Korber directs this Franco-Italian drama, adapted from Catherine Paysan's 1966 novel of the same name. Provincial notary Alexandre Boursault would be a contented man if not for his wife Marie-Louise's open embrace of leftist politics and street demonstrations; the marriage collapses into divorce, and even as Alexandre moves on, Marie-Louise cannot let go of her love for him.
