Park Chan-wook's 2003 thriller, the second film of his Vengeance trilogy and winner of the Grand Prix at Cannes in 2004, adapts Garon Tsuchiya and Nobuaki Minegishi's manga: Oh Dae-su (Choi Min-sik) is imprisoned for fifteen years in a private cell without explanation, released just as inexplicably, and given five days to work out why by his captor Lee Woo-jin (Yoo Ji-tae), with the sushi chef Mi-do (Kang Hye-jung) drawn into his hunt. Show East released it in South Korea on 21 November 2003. (IMDb; Wikipedia)
Watches
- Montblanc (unidentified model)
- Worn by Choi Min-sik as Oh Dae-su. On the rooftop where Dae-su is left in a suitcase after his release, a close-up shows a hand gripping his wrist, the tally marks he tattooed on the back of his hand for each year of captivity beside a steel watch on a brown leather strap: a white dial with black Arabic numerals, leaf hands, a date at 6 and Montblanc's name and star under 12, a layout that resembles the maker's Meisterstück Star date models of the period. The frame, posted by an Uhrforum member in September 2017 naming the brand only, shows no case back or reference, so the watch is recorded at brand level.
