Peaceful Death (痛くない死に方) is a 2021 Japanese theatrical drama written and directed by Banmei Takahashi, based on the nonfiction books Itakunai Shinikata and Itai Zaitakui by home-hospice physician Kazuhiro Nagao, who also appears in the cast. Tasuku Emoto stars as Jin Kawada, a home-visit doctor who begins to doubt himself after a terminal lung-cancer patient dies in prolonged pain despite choosing in-home care over hospitalization, forcing him to confront what a "peaceful death" actually requires of the people who attend one. The film had its international premiere as an official selection of the 23rd Shanghai International Film Festival before opening in Japanese theaters on 20 February 2021.
