Planes, Trains and Automobiles

Written, produced and directed by John Hughes for Paramount Pictures and released on 25 November 1987, Planes, Trains and Automobiles pairs Steve Martin as Neal Page, a tightly wound Chicago advertising executive, with John Candy as Del Griffith, a garrulous travelling salesman of shower-curtain rings (Wikipedia). A snowstorm diverts their New York-to-Chicago flight to Wichita two days before Thanksgiving, and the pair spend the rest of the film improvising their way home by motel, train, bus and rental car. Hughes shot the film largely in New York state, and it opened to strong reviews and box office (Wikipedia).
