Shadow Work

Shadow Work (シャドウワーク) is a 2026 Japanese thriller written and directed by Ryuhei Yoshino, adapting Hiromi Sano's novel of the same name. Riho Yoshioka plays Noriko, who flees an abusive husband into "Ouchi," a women's shelter whose residents share every chore, and eventually a secret: freeing each other from violent men through exchange murder. Nao plays Kaoru, a detective investigating a case while enduring her own husband's abuse; Takumi Kitamura plays that husband, police officer Shinichi Kitagawa, a man nobody suspects.
