Ryoo Seung-wan directs this South Korean period action drama (Korean: 군함도), set among roughly 400 Koreans forced into labor on Japan's Hashima ("Battleship") Island coal mine during the last years of Japanese colonial rule. Smooth-talking fixer Lee Gang-ok (Hwang Jung-min) schemes to escape alongside bandleader Choi Chil-sung (So Ji-sub) and undercover OSS agent Park Moo-young (Song Joong-ki). Timeforum specialist Torino's 2017 Q4 "매체속의 시계들" (Watches in Media) roundup identifies Hwang Jung-min's Datejust II and flags it as historically wrong for the film's 1940s setting, since Rolex did not introduce the enlarged Datejust II until 2009: "극 중 황정민씨가 차고 나온 로렉스인데요. 저시대에 왜 데젓2를 등장시켰는진 모르겠군요" (I don't know why they put a Datejust II in that era).
