The Descendants

Alexander Payne's 2011 adaptation of Kaui Hart Hemmings's novel, in which a land baron tries to reconnect with his two daughters after his wife is seriously injured in a boating accident. George Clooney plays Matt King, a Honolulu attorney and sole trustee of 25,000 acres of undeveloped Kauai coastline that his cousins want sold before the trust lapses, who learns while his wife lies comatose that she had been having an affair.
