The Descendants

Alexander Payne's 2011 adaptation of Kaui Hart Hemmings's novel, in which a land baron tries to reconnect with his two daughters after his wife is seriously injured in a boating accident. George Clooney plays Matt King, a Honolulu attorney and sole trustee of 25,000 acres of undeveloped Kauai coastline that his cousins want sold before the trust lapses, who learns while his wife lies comatose that she had been having an affair. Matt King wears an Omega De Ville Prestige Small Seconds, a dress watch on a brown leather strap that reads as inherited money worn without ceremony, the right register for a trustee who dresses in slippers and aloha shirts. Omega identified the piece as the 39 mm red gold small-seconds Prestige, reference 4614.20.02, powered by the co-axial calibre 2002; Clooney was already an Omega ambassador when the film was made.
