Susan Stroman's film adaptation of Mel Brooks's Broadway musical, itself adapted from his 1967 film, released by Universal Pictures. A washed-up Broadway producer and his timid accountant realize they can make more money from a guaranteed flop than a hit, so they stage the most tasteless musical they can find, "Springtime for Hitler," and oversell shares in it to eager investors.
