The Solitary Gourmet (劇映画 孤独のグルメ) is the theatrical continuation of the long-running Japanese television drama Kodoku no Gurume, marking Yutaka Matsushige's feature directing and co-writing debut alongside his starring role as import-export merchant Goro Inogashira. The story sends Goro to Paris at the request of an old friend's granddaughter, chasing down a childhood soup recipe on a journey that also passes through Japan and South Korea.
