Directed by Yusaku Matsumoto for Netflix, this biopic draws on entertainer Haruna Ai's memoir Subarashiki, Kono Jinsei and on Koji Wada and Kumiko Fukamachi's account of the doctor who performed her gender-affirming surgery, Penis Cutter: The Story of the Doctor Who Saved a Person with Gender Identity Disorder. Haruki Mochizuki plays Kenji, later performing under the stage name Ai, a child who dreams of becoming an idol despite school bullying and family estrangement, and who debuts at a Shinjuku show pub before falling for fellow dancer Takuya (Kaito Yoshimura); Takumi Saitoh plays Koji Wada, the doctor whose own past failure to save a patient leads him into gender-affirming surgery after learning of Ai's struggle. Shido Nakamura plays Tsuruhisa, a detective who keeps watch over Wada's medical practice. Netflix released the film worldwide on February 10, 2026. (Japanese Wikipedia)
